Corey Colson was born and raised as a military kid across the United States, where he developed a passion for entrepreneurship from an early age. Growing up as the black sheep, Corey was surrounded by constant change — which sparked his instinct for communication, adaptation, and competition.
After high school, he pursued a degree in critical care nursing while simultaneously paying his way through hands-on trade experience in construction and design. He understood that solid foundation principles would complement artistic skill in navigating the complexities of entrepreneurship.

After graduating, Corey specialized in Trauma Nursing, Minimally Invasive Cardiovascular Intervention, and directing Intensive Care Units. He progressed into Risk Management, building nationally recognized programs in Cardiovascular rescue and Stroke intervention — before leaving it all behind for concrete.

Throughout his professional journey, Corey noticed a significant gap in the education available to aspiring artists and contractors. Many talented individuals struggled to turn their skills into successful businesses due to a lack of practical knowledge in entrepreneurship and trade-specific techniques.
This observation ignited a passion to give back and support the next generation. In response, he envisioned Coatings College — a trade school dedicated to equipping aspiring artists and contractors with the necessary skills to thrive.
His goal was to create a curriculum that combined technical training in coatings and design with essential business practices. By fostering a new wave of skilled professionals, he believed he could not only elevate the industry but also inspire creativity and innovation.
